When this issue happens, pressing the microphone/camera button doesn't seem to do anything. The red slash disappears, so you should be unmuted/camera on, but you still can’t be heard or seen.
Android devices may have slightly different visuals and processes. This guide describes the process on the majority of devices.
- Go to the home screen by swiping upwards from the bottom of your screen or by pressing the circle on the bottom of your phone screen.
- On the home screen, swipe one finger upwards to bring up the Search Pane for your apps and type in the app name (Zoom). Do not open the Zoom app.
- Hold down the Zoom app icon (making sure not to tap to open it). Three options should appear on a pane beneath the app:
- App Info
- Uninstall
- Share
- Press App Info to open it. Scroll down to Permissions and open it. You will see your Allowed and Not allowed permissions here.
- Touch Camera and change its permissions to “Allow only while using the app.” Set it as "Do not do ask every time."
- Touch Microphone and change its permissions to “Allow only while using the app.” Set it as "Do not do ask every time."
